India & US Sign Defence Agreements
On 22nd August 2024, India and the United States signed a Security of Supply Arrangement (SOSA) and a Memorandum of Agreement regarding the Assignment of Liaison Officers, further strengthening their military cooperation and strategic partnership.
The New Agreements
- SOSA: The Security of Supply Arrangement allows India and the US to provide reciprocal priority support for defence-related goods and services, aiming to mitigate supply chain disruptions and meet national security needs. It is legally non-binding.
- MoA on Liaison Officers: The Memorandum of Agreement on Liaison Officers enhances information-sharing by assigning Indian military personnel to key US commands, starting with the US Special ....
