Challenges in Reaping Demographic Dividend
- Population Pressure: Around 2027, India is projected to overtake China as the world’s most populous country, as per the World Population Prospects 2019 report released by United Nations. Also, India is expected to add nearly 273 million people between 2019-2050 as per this report.
- Working-Age Ratio to Increase: The working-age ratio in India’s population is projected to increase from 64 per cent in 2013 to 69 per cent in 2040 – an addition of more than 300 million adults of working-age population. In terms of pure numbers, India would thus become the largest contributor to the addition in the global workforce. ....
