ABHED: India’s Cutting-Edge Bulletproof Jacket
Recently, the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, successfully developed a new generation of Light Weight Bullet Proof Jackets named ABHED (Advanced Ballistics for High Energy Defeat).
Advanced Materials and Design
- The ABHED jacket employs a combination of polymers and boron carbide ceramic materials, known for their high strength-to-weight ratios.
- This innovative approach allows the jacket to weigh between 8.2 kg and 9.5 kg, depending on the specific configuration.
- The design ensures 360-degree protection through modular armour plates that can be adapted for different mission requirements, providing soldiers ....
