The Constitution (One Hundred and Sixth Amendment) Act, 2023
On 28th September, 2023, the Constitution (One Hundred and Sixth Amendment) Bill, 2023 (also known as Women’s Reservation Bill or Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam received the assent of the President of Bharat.
- The Act emphasizes the importance of women’s participation in decision-making processes for the development of the nation.
Need
- Underrepresentation of Women: 15% of the total members of the 17th Lok Sabha are women while in state legislative assemblies; women on average constitute 9% of the total members.In 2015, the Report on the Status of Women in India noted that the representation of women in state assemblies and Parliament continues ....
