Yaya Tso

Ladakh's Yaya Tso Lake is referred to as the Bird's Paradise. The lake is 4,820 kilometres above sea level. The lake is a well-known location for black-necked crane breeding.

  • The Biodiversity Management Committee, the Panchayat of Chumathang Village, and The Himalaya Project has designated it as a "Biodiversity Heritage Site." Making it Ladakh's first location designated as a Biosphere Heritage Site.
