Tomato Flu (Tomato Fever)

The virus infection known as tomato fever (also known as tomato flu) has been found in children under the age of five in the Indian state of Kerala. On May 6, 2022, it was discovered for the first time in the Kollam district.

  • The reason tomato fever got its name is because it causes the body to break out in painful, red blisters that over time grow to be the size of tomatoes. In the state of Kerala, incidences of tomato fever were previously reported in the year 2007.
