Plasticosis
Scientists from Australia and the UK have identified a brand-new fibrotic condition in birds termed "Plasticosis," which is brought on by plastic ingestion, which causes chronic inflammation and the development of scar tissue in the digestive system of birds.
- According to the study, the birds had ingested about 12.5% of their body weight in plastic.
- The study discovered that consuming plastic can seriously harm a bird's digestive system, increasing their susceptibility to parasites and infections and impairing their capacity to digest food and absorb some vitamins.
