The ML-ABS system allows nations to share crucial plant genetic material with one another globally.

  • The benefit-sharing component comprises monetary and non-monetary assistance for worldwide Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (PGRFA) conservation efforts.
  • PGRFA are all plant products that can be used to develop further plants, including seeds, fruits, cuttings, pollen, and various organs and tissues. Traditional crop varieties, as well as their wild relatives, contemporary cultivars, breeding lines, etc., are included. They produce food, feed for domestic animals, fibre, clothing, shelter, medicine, and energy.
