International Big Cat Alliance

In order to safeguard the seven main big cats—the tiger, lion, leopard, snow leopard, puma, jaguar, and cheetah—India has suggested the formation of a new international partnership named the International Big Cat Alliance (IBCA).

  • 97 nations and organisations that are interested in conserving these creatures were welcomed to join the IBCA.
  • India has promised to support the IBCA with financing $100 million over the course of five years.
  • Leopards, lions, tigers, snow leopards, and cheetahs can only be found in the wild in India. They are now extinct in the wild in other nations.
