Ergosphere

The ergosphere is the area immediately outside the event horizon of a spinning black hole (also known as a Kerr black hole), where an observer is compelled to rotate along with the black hole and is unable to remain stationary with respect to the rest of the universe.

  • The static limit is the ergosphere's outer boundary. Event horizon and stationary limit meet in a Schwarzschild black hole that is not rotating.
