Central Zoo Authority

  • A separate chapter, Chapter IVA containing Section 38 A to 38 J was added to theWildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 for establishment of the Central Zoo Authority in India.
  • Accordingly, the Central Zoo Authority was established as a statutory body under the Ministry of Environment & Forests by the Government of India in the year 1992.

Composition

  • Apart from the chairman, it consists of 10 members and a member-secretary.
  • Recently CZA was restructured and now includes an expert from the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi, and a molecular biologist.
