Delicate Balance: Regulatory Enforcement and Favourable Business Environment
- Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is moving towards taking forward the process of 'Jan Vishwas Act, 2023' under 'Jan Vishwas 2.0' to identify and evaluate minor criminal provisions and decriminalize them.
- Under the Legal Measurement Act, 2009, there was a provision of fine and imprisonment up to 6 months for procedural defaults like giving wrong information to the Legal Metrology Officer, Controller or Director, which has now been made compoundable.
- The 'Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995' has been decriminalized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
