Economic
- Prominent deposits in this rock system include limestone, shale, sandstone etc.
- The marine transgression in the latter part of the Jurassic gave rise to thick series of shallow water deposits in Rajasthan and in Kuchchh.
- Coral limestone, sandstone, conglomerates and shales occur in Kuchchh.
- Salt Range: Ceratite beds of Triassic age are overlain by Jurassic rocks of middle to upper Jurassic age in Salt Range. Lithologi cally these comprise sandstones, shales and limestones, the latter being oolitic.
- The shales are rich in gypsum and pyrite bands. Fossils found from Upper Jurassic include Pecten, Lima (Lamellibranchs), Ammonites and some Belemnites whereas from ....
