Successful Test Flight of Agni-Prime Ballistic Missile
On 3rd April, 2024, the Strategic Forces Command (SFC) and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful flight test of the new generation ballistic missile Agni-Prime from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
Key Features
- Agni-Prime is a two-stage canisterized solid propellant ballistic missile equipped with a dual redundant navigation and guidance system.
- It has a range of 1,000-2,000 km and is lighter than previous missiles in the Agni series, according to DRDO.
Development and Pre-Induction Testing
- Agni-Prime was first tested in June 2021 and underwent successful pre-induction night launch testing in June 2023 ....
