Committee to Examine Concerns of Queer Community
On 17th April, 2024, the Ministry of Law and Justice announced the formation of six-member committee to examine the various issues relating to queer community.
Rationale
- The committee was formed in terms of the Supreme Court's Constitution bench judgment in Supriyo vs. Union of India on October, 2023.
Mandates
The committee will examine and submit its recommendations in the following issues:
- Measures to be taken by the Union government and the state governments to ensure that there is no discrimination in access to goods and services to the queer community.
