West Nile Virus (Wnv) In Kerala
- A seven-year-old boy diagnosed with West Nile Fever in Kerala’s Malappuram district died recently.
- WNV is a virus infection which is spread by the infected Culex mosquitos. It spreads from birds to humans through abite of an infected mosquito and mostly affects people with a weak immune system.
- It has also been spread through blood transfusion and organ donation, during delivery or breastfeeding or from exposure in a laboratory setting.
- WNV is not spread through coughing, sneezing, or touching.
- Most WNV cases are seen during mosquito seasons, starting from summer and continue through fall (September, October and November).
- Fortunately, most people infected with WNV ....
