Raman Effect
- Raman Effect is referred to the discovery made by Indian physicist CV Raman in 1928.
- When light is scattered by matter, almost all of the scattering is an elastic process (Rayleigh scattering) due to which there is no change in energy.
- However, a very small percentage of scattering is an inelastic process (Raman scattering). This small part of the scattered light has wavelengths different from that of the incident light; its presence is a result of the Raman Effect.
- CV Raman was honored with the Nobel Prize in 1930.
- National Science Day is celebrated on 28th of February every year in ....
