NASA Plans to Use AI

NASA is planning to use artificial intelligence (AI) for communication between its spacecrafts and the Earth.

With software complexity of modern space communications systems to support science and exploration missions are increasing, researchers at NASA are looking to apply artificial intelligence and machine learning to satellites which can control these systems seamlessly, making real-time decisions without awaiting instruction.

Researchers are of the view that the recent development of cognitive technologies is a new thrust in the architecture of communications systems and will increase the efficiency, autonomy and reliability of space communications systems.
