China's HEPS Synchrotron
On 14th May, 2024, China launched the High Energy Photon Source (HEPS), the first fourth-generation synchrotron light source in Asia.
- High Energy Photon Source (HEPS) will commence operations by year-end, marking a significant leap in scientific exploration.
Key Points
- Cutting-Edge Technology: Located in Huairou, 50 kilometers from Beijing, the HEPS facility represents a substantial investment of US$665 million and promises to offer some of the brightest synchrotron X-rays globally.
- Unprecedented Capabilities: HEPS is designed to accelerate electrons to energies of 6 gigaelectron volts, generating high-energy X-rays capable of probing samples at the nanometer scale.
- Enhanced Time Resolution: HEPS will significantly improve experiment time ....
