Biocontrol Agent for Foot Rot Disease
- Recently, the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), Ludhiana, developed biocontrol agent Trichoderma asperellum (2% WP).
- The biocontrol agent will help farmers manage the deadly ‘foot rot’ or ‘bakanae’ disease that plagues the crops of Basmati rice.
- Also known as the Bakanae disease, it is a seedborne fungal disease.
- The fungus infects plants through the roots or crowns.
