International Organisation for Migration (IOM)
- Amy Pope, a former White House advisor, is set to become the first woman to head the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations' migration agency.
- The IOM was established in 1951 as the Intergovernmental Committee for European Migration and became a UN agency in 2016.
- Its mandate includes promoting humane and orderly migration, providing services and advice to governments and migrants, and addressing forced migration.
