Recent Developments
On 13th April, 2023, India signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the World Food Programme (WFP) for sending 10,000 metric tonnes (MT) of wheat for the people of Afghanistan.
- Earlier in 2021, India had supplied several shipments of humanitarian assistance consisting of 40,000 MT of wheat, 55 tons of medicines, 500,000 doses of Covid-19 Vaccine and winter clothing.
- In the wake of the tragic earthquake that struck eastern Afghanistan on 22 June 2022, India as a first responder dispatched 28 tonnes of emergency relief assistance in two flights for the people of Afghanistan.
