Residential Education For Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas
On 3rd June, 2022, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment launched the Scheme for Residential Education For Students in High schools in Targeted Areas (SHRESHTA).
Need
- The students from the Scheduled Caste communities, for long been subjects to inequality, were kept out of quality education and a situation that perpetuates the disadvantages carried forward for generations of lack of adequate education.
About SHRESTA
- It has been launched for providing seats for meritorious SC boys and girls in the private residential schools in the country.
- Every year, about 3000 students would be selected for admission in Class 9 and Class 11.
