Global Innovation Districts
- Recently, Karnataka announced to set up three Global Innovation Districts (GIDs) in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Belagavi to attract and support Global Capability Centres (GCCs).
- The initiative is backed by the state’s first dedicated GCC policy and the 'Nipuna Karnataka' scheme to skill one lakh people.
- These innovation districts will be as key pillars in Karnataka’s strategy to foster research, development, and emerging industries, alongside strengthening its position as a global tech hub.
- The GIDs in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Belagavi will be dedicated parks for GCCs, with Bengaluru’s district forming part of the Knowledge, Wellbeing, and Innovation City (KWIN City). ....
