Nurturing Sports Talent in Rural India
- India won its highest number of medals (107) in 60 years with 75% more gold medals compared to 2018 in the 'Asian Games-2022' held from 23rdSeptember to 8th October 2023 in Hangzhou, China.
- In recent years, the government has launched several initiatives to promote sports such as Khelo India Scheme, TOPS (Target Olympic Podium Scheme) scheme.
- Under the 'Talent, Search and Development' component of the Khelo India Scheme, Khelo India athletes are identified, selected and provided annual financial assistance of Rs 6.28 lakh per athlete.
- Malkhamb, Kalaripayattu, Gatka, Thang-Ta and Yogasana were included in the Khelo India Games recently organized ....
