National Technical Textile Mission
- On 26th February, 2020, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs gave its approval to set up a National Technical Textiles Mission.
- The Mission would have a four year implementation period from FY 2020-21 to 2023-24.
Aim
- Encourage manufacturing facilities and use of Technical Textiles
- Reduce technical textiles imports of India
- To promote ‘Make in India’ initiative
Need
- Low Penetration of Technical Textiles: The penetration level of technical textiles is low in India, varying between 5-10% against the level of 30-70% in developed countries.
- Dependency on Import: Despite 2,100 technical textile manufacturing units in the country, spread over Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, India ....
