Mission Purvodaya
- On 11th January, 2020, the government launched Mission Purvodaya in order to strengthen steel sector in the Eastern region.
- The mission is to be achieved by the Government with the help of Japan.
Need
- Low Socio-economic Development of Eastern Region:Despite being endowed with rich natural resources (iron ore, bauxite, coking coal, etc.), eastern region of the country has lagged behind in socio-economic development as compared to other parts of the country.
- Huge Steel Potential:The eastern belt has the potential to add more than 75 percent of the country’s incremental steel capacity envisioned by the National Steel Policy, 2017.
