Gaganyaan Mission
- India's first human spaceflight program, Gaganyaan, is being operated by ISRO, with plans to send astronauts into space in 2025.
- The Gaganyaan project envisions a three-day mission where a crew of astronauts will be sent to a 400-kilometer orbit and safely returned to Earth by landing in the Indian Ocean, demonstrating India’s human spaceflight capabilities.
- The GSLV Mk III rocket, developed by ISRO, will be used as the launch vehicle for the Gaganyaan mission.
- The rocket has three stages: solid, liquid, and cryogenic.
- The test vehicle, Abhyas, was launched on October 21, 2023, from Sriharikota.
