  • Ganeshotsav: Bal Gangadhar Tilak started celebrating Ganeshotsav festival in Maharashtra in 1893.
    • Shivaji Mahotsav was started by Tilak. He also started Kesari and Mahratta newspapers.
  • First Phase of National Movement (1885-1905 AD): During this time, the demand for separation of executive and judiciary was made in the second session of Congress in 1886.
