Barracuda: India's Fastest Solar-Electric Boat Sets Sail
On 13th December, 2023, India’s Navalt Solar and Electric Boats launched Barracuda, India’s fastest solar-electric boat, promoting eco-friendly maritime travel.
About Barracuda
- Barracuda is a 14m-long, 4.4m-wide solar-electric vessel, capable of ferrying up to 12 passengers and cargo, ensuring navigation even in rough seas.
- This cutting-edge vessel was jointly developed by Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders and Navalt.
- The vessel boasts a top speed of 12.5 knots (23 kmph) and a range of seven hours on a single charge, equipped with twin 50 kW electric motors, a marine-grade LFP battery, and 6 kW solar power.
