  • Former Pope, Benedict XVI has passed away on 31st December 2022.
  • Benedict's election as pope occurred in the 2005 papal conclave that followed the death of Pope John Paul II.
  • He led the Catholic Church for fewer than eight years until, in 2013, he became the first Pope to resign since Gregory XII in 1415.
