- A zoonotic disease, Neurocysticercosis is a preventable neurologic parasitic infection caused by larval cysts (enclosed sacs containing the immature stage of a parasite) of the pork tapeworm (Taenia solium).
- It is a neurologic infection caused when a human consumes meat from - or comes in contact with - a pig infected with tapeworm.
