​‘Jal Hi Amrit’ Program

  • On 1st October, 2024, the Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs has launched the ‘Jal Hi AMRIT’ Program to improve water management.
  • It aims to encourage States and Union Territories (UTs) to efficiently manage sewage treatment plants (STPs) and to ensure the production of high-quality, recyclable treated water.
  • Clean Water Credit System promotes competition among cities, enhances their capacities, and incentivizes them to produce high-quality treated water.
  • Star-Rating System will receive star ratings (ranging from 3 to 5 stars) as clean water credits, valid for 6 months.
