Seismic Zones in India

A seismic zone, also known as a seismic hazard zone or earthquake zone, is an area on the Earth's surface that is prone to seismic activity, particularly earthquakes. These zones are characterized by a higher likelihood of experiencing earthquakes of varying magnitudes.

India’s Seismic Zones

  • lndia is divided into four main seismic zones based on its vulnerability to earthquakes. These seismic zones are identified as Zone II, Zone III, Zone IV, and Zone V, with Zone V being the most seismically active and Zone II the least.
