Policy Statement (1954)

  • Following the unprecedented floods of 1954, the Union Minister for Planning, Irrigation and Power, placed before the Parliament, two statements namely “Floods in India - Problems and Remedies” and “The Floods in the Country”.
  • The objective unequivocally set, in the policy statements, was to rid the country from the menace of floods by containing and managing floods and thus solving the problem.
