Living Planet Report 2022

Recently, the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) released the Living Planet Report 2022. Released every two years, it is a comprehensive study of trends in global biodiversity and health of the planet. It tracks changes in the relative abundance of wild species populations across the globe.

Key Highlights

Declining Wildlife Populations

  • Monitored wildlife populations - including mammals, birds, amphibians, reptiles and fish - have seen a 69% drop between 1970 and 2018.
  • The highest decline (94 per cent) was in the Latin America and the Caribbean region.
