ISRO Develops “PraVaHa” CFD Software
On 30th May, 2024, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) informed that it has developed Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software named ‘Parallel RANS Solver for Aerospace Vehicle Aero-thermo-dynamic Analysis’ (PraVaHa).
Purpose and Need
- Aerospace Vehicle Design: Essential for evaluating numerous configurations during initial aerodynamic design studies of launch vehicles.
- Aerodynamic and Aerothermal Loads: Vehicles face severe external pressure and heat flux during launch or re-entry through Earth’s atmosphere.
PraVaHa’s Capabilities
- Understanding Airflow: Critical for designing the shape, structure, and Thermal Protection System (TPS) for aircraft, rockets, and Crew Modules (CM).
- Addressing Flow Issues: Unsteady aerodynamics contribute to significant flow issues and acoustic ....
