Bekal: A Confluence of Culture and History Echoing Through Time
- Kasaragod is known as the 'land of seven languages'. It is Located on the coast of the Arabian Sea in northern Kerala.
- Malayalam, Tulu, Kannada, Konkani, Urdu, Marathi and Bayari are the main languages spoken by the people of Kasaragod.
- The Bekal Fort in Kasaragod is built mainly of laterite stone. This fort was part of the Mahodaypuram kingdom.
- Kasargod was transformed into a port city during the reign of Kolathunadu in the 12th century.
- Due to the strategic and economic importance of Kasaragod, the Keladi Nayak (Ikkeri Nayak) conquered the region in the 16th century.
