Need
- Unity of India: The IPC's Section 124A is useful in the fight against terrorist, separatist, and anti-national groups.
- Stable Political System: It guards against attempts to topple the elected government by force or illegal means. A crucial requirement of the State's stability is the continuous existence of the legal government. Maoist rebel organisations openly call for the overthrow of the state government through revolution in many parts of states.
- Power of Contempt: It is consistent with the authority of contempt granted to the court to uphold its honour. Similar to this, disobedience to the law should be punished.
