Lingaraja Temple
Odisha government recently announced to give a facelift to the 11th century Lingaraja Temple, similar to its pre-350-year structural status.
About Lingaraja Temple
- It was built in 11th century AD by King Jajati Keshari of Somavanshi dynasty with later additions by the Ganga dynasty rulers.
- It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The Temple signifies the syncretisation of Shaivism and Vaishnavism sects in Odisha.
- Its Deul (tower) rises to a height of 180 feet and marks the culmination of the temple architecture in Bhubaneswar which was the cradle of the Kalinga School of Temple Architecture.
