Alternative Medicines

Recently, the Parliament of India has passed three Bills related to alternative medicine viz. The National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM) Act, 2020, The National Commission for Homoeopathy (NCH) Act, 2020 and The Institute of Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA) Act, 2020.

  • The Act seeks to repeal the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 and to provide for a medical education system which ensures:
    • availability of adequate and high-quality medical professionals of Indian System of Medicine;
    • adoption of the latest medical research by medical professionals ; and
