Answer: Gandhiji was a realist, and he understood that for attaining Swaraj (self-rule), a long-term movement and widespread public participation were necessary. Therefore, he adopted the strategy of struggle-truce-struggle.
Strategy of Struggle-Truce-Struggle
- Under Gandhiji's strategy, whenever the energy of the people reached its peak, he would start the movement, and when the energy was low, he would withdraw the movement.
- Gandhiji believed that when the energy was low, the people would either detach themselves from the movement under pressure or be forced to adopt violent tendencies.
