Study Sheds New Light on Pluto’s Atmospheric Pressure
Recently, Indian scientists, along with international collaborators from Brazil and France, have derived the accurate value of Pluto’s atmospheric pressure at its surface.
Key Findings
- Method: The researchers, including members from Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences (ARIES), used signal-to-noise ratio of the light curves to derive an accurate value of Pluto’s atmospheric pressure at its surface.
- Pressure: The atmospheric pressure of Pluto was found to be 12.23 μbar, which is over 80,000 times less than the atmospheric pressure at mean sea level on Earth.
- Telescopes: The pressure was calculated from data obtained by observation of stellar occultation by Pluto on 6th ....
