Recently, the Ministry of Science and Technology released new guidelines for the Geo-Spatial Sector in India, liberalising the policies governing the acquisition and production of geo-spatial data.

About Geo-Spatial Data

  • Geospatial data refers to information about objects, events, or phenomena (both man-made and natural) that have a physical position on the earth's surface. Currently, a geo spatial component is included in 80% of all data. A road's location, an earthquake, childhood starvation, or a dynamic like a moving vehicle or pedestrian, the spread of an infectious disease, are all examples.
