Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD)
The CBD is an international legally binding treaty that, for the first time, recognised the importance of biological diversity conservation for human welfare. All habitats, species, and genetic resources are covered by the pact.
Objectives of the Convention include
- Conservation of biological diversity
- Sustainable use of its components
- Fair and equitable sharing of benefits
Aichi Biodiversity Targets
- The "Aichi Biodiversity Targets" were adopted for the period 2011-20 at the 10th Conference of Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) held in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, Japan, in 2010.
