‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ Scheme
In January 2020, Union Minister Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution announced that the ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme will be implemented by June 1 across the country.
- Under this scheme a beneficiary will be able to avail benefits of subsidised foodgrains across the country using the same ration card. Ration cards are an official document issued by state governments in India to households that are eligible to purchase subsidized food grain from the Public Distribution System (under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013).
