Northern Zonal Council Meet in Chandigarh
The 29th meeting of the Northern Zonal Council was held at Chandigarh in September 2019, under the Chairmanship of the Union Home Minister.
- The Zonal Councils are statutory bodies established by the parliament in 1957 under States Reorganization Act, 1956 to promote interstate cooperation and coordination.
- There are five Zonal councils namely:
- Northern Zonal Council, comprising the States of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, National Capital Territory of Delhi and Union Territory of Chandigarh.
- Central Zonal Council, comprising the States of Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.
- Eastern Zonal Council, comprising the States of Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, and West ....
