NCPCR Ordered to Report on Detention of Children during CAA Protests

The Supreme Court on February 10 ordered the Centre, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and its arms in New Delhi and U.P. to submit a report on detention of children in jails, calling such actions as a violation of the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.The Juvenile Justice Act of 2000 was amended in 2015 with a provision allowing for Children in Conflict with Law (CCL) to be tried as adults under certain circumstances.
