Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019
The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019 was introduced in Rajya Sabha on August 5, 2019 by the Minister of Home Affairs and subsequently passed in Lok Sabha on 6th Aug 2019. It received the President’s assent on 9 August 2019.
- The Bill provides for reorganization of the state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) into the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh.
- The introduction of the bill was preceded by a presidential order called the Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order, 2019, which supersedes the Constitution (Application to Jammu and Kashmir) Order, 1954, to withdraw the ....
