Ude Desh Ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN)/ Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS)

Recently, the Government has approved 78 new routes under the 4th round of Regional Connectivity Scheme.

  • Also on the commencement of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (India@75)’, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has proposed about 392 routes under UDAN 4.1 bidding process.
  • It is a key component of National Civil Aviation Policy, 2016.

Why Introduced?

  • To make the poor fly and tap on the demographic potential of airline industry, thereby making it profitable.
